Music-Education.ru Ballet Pina: dance in 3D, what’s next?
In general, her name completely sounds like the Philippines, but in ballet circles she is known as Pina Bausch, a German dancer and choreographer. She has been on the scene since she was 5 years old, studied first in Germany (high school in Essen), then in the USA (Dzhulyardovskaya school). Then she worked in the New American Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera (USA), in Germany in the Volkwang Ballet and in the ballet of the Wuppertal Theater. Receiving an invitation to German groups as a dancer, Pina Bausch after some time became the artistic director of ballet troupes.
And the Wuppertal Theater was soon renamed the Pina Bausch Dance Theater. With Wuppertal and the Ballet Theater, starting in the 70s. of the last century and all the creative activity of Pina Bausch is connected. Here she staged all her famous ballets, became a world-class choreographer, received recognition, many world ballet awards and prizes, from here she went on tour with the theater and returned here. The figure is 35 years old, namely, so much Pina has been associated with Wuppertal, of course, causes respect. WHERE AND HOW? 6 years have passed since the death of Pina Bausch, symbolically, just in 2009. (year of death) she was planning to bring her new dance program “On the Seven Deadly Sins” to Moscow to the international festival. And the first visit to Russia with the performance of “Carnations” took place in 1989. The famous performances of Pina Bausch “The Rite of Spring” (to the music of I. Stravinsky) and “Cafe Mueller” in Moscow were also seen.
In the last ballet, Pina danced, and she was already over 50. And then the answer to the question: where can I meet with Pina’s ballets – will be like this: – Puppy Bausch Theater still exists in Wuppertal (Germany), now its director is Lutz Förster, who since 1975. was a leading soloist of the Pina Theater troupe, and worked with her until her death; – in 2011, the Wim Wenders film “Pina. Dance of Passion 3D ”, which the author (Wim V.) began shooting during the life of the choreographer, then decided to interrupt the shooting, but seeing that the actors of the Pina theater continued to work actively, he realized that the film had to be finished; – On the Internet in VKontakte there is an open group of Pina (https://vk.com/pina_bausch), where almost all of her ballets are presented. Therefore, to get an idea of what Pina Bausch brought to the art of ballet is quite possible. You just need to spend some time watching the Wenders movie and watch at least a few, and better – Pina’s diverse ballets.
WHAT SURPRISES AND AFFECTS?
First, just separate facts: – “Orpheus and Eurydice” with the music of K. Gluck. The genre of the performance is a dancer, where a full-fledged choreographic action takes place on the stage, but the vocal and instrumental beginning is also present. You can even call all this dance-vocal two-voice. Modern (non-academic) choreography, the nature of the dance gesture and movement directly depends on the restrained pace of the music; – “Sacred spring”. Compared to Orpheus, this is a revelry of passions and emotions. And accordingly, in plastic – violence, swiftness and savagery of gesture and movement; – routine and everyday life. The Kontackthof ballet will amaze you with the choice of dancers and dancers of old age who are perceived simply as “people from the street”. The simplicity and elementary nature of their movements makes them “puzzle” over the question: what is actually happening? There is no answer, but the music and the everyday everyday plastic give a hint that perhaps this is a choreographic embodiment of everyday female-male communication, where a variety of solo-ensemble acts alternate with amazing choreographic humor; – earthly and sublime in the “Cafe Muller”, or the neighborhood of everyday atmosphere and high musical classics (G. Purcell “Dido and Aeneas”), and all this – in the language of piercing gesture.
A performance is, apparently, Pina’s attempt to say that one can speak not only by means of a word (oral or written), but also in some other way. And the most interesting thing is that everything that happens on stage is recognizable and understood well; And if you start getting acquainted with Pina with the film “Pina. Dance of Passion”, then perhaps the viewer will have the conviction that he will also be able to walk like this, work with his elbows, make some kind of gestures, i.e. Become an actor in the Pina Theater, but online. Why not?! This is great when high art wants to “imitate” instantly and now. Pina is not afraid of the age of the dancers about choreography and appearance, she is not afraid of their appearance, and most likely she cannot find the usual ballet “prettiness”. But, nevertheless, her ballets are a high art that can capture and hold the attention of the viewer. But why is this happening? It is indisputable that the choreographer succeeds in “registering” with any performer a choreographic line of behavior for the dancer or ensemble of performers. And all the time there is a feeling that such movements and gestures are inherent in this particular choreographic hero.
